Georgetown Swim Club Inc. Rules and Regulations

The following rules and regulations have been established for the protection and benefit of all members of the Georgetown Swim Club, Inc. and their guests. They have been established to assure the safe and sanitary operation of the pool facilities.

Parents are requested to caution their children to observe these rules and regulations and to obey the instructions of the lifeguards. Failure to comply with these rules may be considered sufficient cause for suspension of pool privileges for a period from one to seven days. Children ejected from the pool may return only after a parent has a conference with the pool manager. After a child has been ejected from the pool a total of three (3) times, the parent and child shall appear before the Board of Directors to resolve and prevent future occurrences. The club will not be responsible for personal property, which may be lost or stolen.

I. LIFEGUARD AND POOL HOURS

A. For General Membership, pool hours will normally be 12:00 Noon -9:00 P.M.

B. The Pool may remain open after 9:00 P.M., according to the weather and the number of swimmers. This decision will be made by the Pool Manager or lifeguard on duty.

C. Early closing for "special events" will be posted.

D. Lifeguards are present for your protection. Please obey their direction. Talking to the guards while they are on duty is prohibited.

E. The lifeguards and the manager have the authority to discipline all children or adults and eject anyone from the pool grounds for the following:

    • Excessive dunking, splashing, running on pool apron, roughhousing or horseplay
    • Inappropriate swimming apparel or behavior, use of profane, foul or abusive language.
    • Disrespect or defiance of the guards.
    • Defacing or destruction of pool property.
    • Any other offenses deemed inappropriate by the guards or manager.

II. HEALTH AND SAFETY

A. All members, children and guests use the pool at their own risk.

B. At all times, the children of members and their guests who have not reached their tenth (10th) birthday must be accompanied by a parent or a responsible adult member while at the swim club. For this purpose, an adult shall be considered anyone over 18 years of age. Any parent who delegates this responsibility for their child or children to a boy or girl under (18) eighteen must submit in writing to the Pool Manager a note stating the parents' approval. Acceptance will be at the discretion of the Pool Manager. Use of the intermediate pool shall be limited to all children who are non-swimmers or nine (9) years of age and under. Use of the kiddy pool shall be limited to children six (6) years or under. To promote sanitation, all non-toilet trained children must wear tight fitting water-proof pants. Children eight years or under are allowed in the main pool only when accompanied by a parent or responsible adult member or have passed the basic swim tests which consists of the following:

a. Swimming 40 feet any stroke, turning on back and floating or treading for 30 seconds, going under the rope, and swimming the remaining length of the pool without touching any side walls.

C. Admission to the swim club of anyone with bandages, skin infections, colds, coughs, inflamed eyes, or any type of contagious disease may be refused.

D. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted except for club sponsored Adult Nights activities. ALL beverages must be in a non-breakable container.

E. All personal injuries, regardless of how slight, must be reported to the guard on duty. The guard must fill out an accident report, as required by law, for reportable injuries.

F. Pool must be evacuated during electrical storms and whenever thunder is heard.

G. No glass or breakable containers allowed in any pool area.

H. Floating aids are not permitted in the main pool or intermediate pool.

I. At no time is a swimmer to be in the diving well unless he has entered the well from a diving board or slide. Divers from the high board will use the ladder to their left and divers from the low board and slide will use the ladder to their right to exit the diving well.

J. The diving well, which shall be designated by ropes and floats, is to be used only for the legitimate purpose of diving. The divers on each board and slide will alternate using the diving boards and slide and must take every precaution to see that his/her path is clear before he/she dives. No head-first slides or cannonball dives will be permitted.

Safety will be enforced. Any act judged unsafe will be halted by the guards.

K. No ball playing in the pool will be allowed except by special permission from the lifeguards. Use of the Bocci court is limited to members sixteen (16) years and older or for children while under direct adult supervision.

L. Diving or jumping from the edge of the main pool is only permitted at the “5 foot” marker or deeper. No back dives are permitted from the edge of the pool. No “sailor”, (forward dive with arms at side) are permitted. No diving or jumping from any side of the intermediate or kiddy pool is permitted.

M. Expectorating and blowing nose in pool is prohibited.

N. Eating and drinking within five (5) ft. of the edge of any pool shall not be permitted.

O. All waste material is to be placed in the appropriate containers for aluminum cans and paper trash.

P. Pets are not allowed within the fenced area of the property.

Q. Hair adornments such as pins, curlers, and barrettes are forbidden.

R. No cutoffs allowed unless sold and manufactured as bathing suits.

S. Should an “accident” occur in any pool, that pool will be closed until such time that the Pool Manager determines that the water is sanitary and safe.

III. GUESTS & VISITORS

A. All guests must be accompanied by a member when entering. Guests may remain at the pool as long as the member is present and will wear an I.D. band at all times.

B. Any time a young member brings a guest without an adult; the guest must meet the requirements as they pertain to pool members under "Health and Safety", section “B”.

C. “Pal Days” and “Kid Days” do not count toward the member’s annual guest allotment.

D. Each adult guest, (18 and over), shall be charged $5.00 per day on weekdays, $7.00 per day on weekends. Children between the age of 4 and 17 shall be charge $4.00 per day on weekdays, $5.00 per day on weekends. There is no charge for children 3 years old and younger.

E. Each family is limited to an annual guest allotment of 30 guests per swim season. ALL guests apply toward this allotment unless otherwise specified.

F. Any “guest” family consisting of a mother and/or father and children will be charged as one against the member’s guest allotment. The fees for the guest family will be equal to one half of the normal individual guest fee.

G. If a member would like to bring a potential member as a guest, the member should contact the Pool Manager to make arrangements, preferably one day in advance. The guest fee will be waived on the day of the visit. There will be a limit of one visit per potential member/members.

H. Members having a party at the pool will be charged one half of the normal individual guest fee and the guests do not count toward the member’s annual guest allotment. A party will be limited to a three hour period and must be scheduled with the Pool Manager at least three days ahead of time. There will be a minimum fee of $50.00. Party’s approved by the manager to exceed beyond normal operating hours will be accessed an additional $25.00 per hour.

I. A ”Visitor” is someone who is not using the pool(s) or any other club facilities. Any “visitor” will be requested to limit their time to one hour. Members under the age of 18 are not permitted to have visitors unless approved by the Pool Manager. There is no charge for “visitors”

J. Non-member baby-sitters -subject to board approval and upon written application, a club member may request unlimited guest privileges for one individual designated as a baby-sitter. Such privileges may be extended to a responsible individual who has been given the responsibility of providing supervision and care for the child/children. A baby-sitter will pay one half of the normal individual guest fee and will not count toward the member’s annual guest allotment.

IV. GENERAL

A. The corporation will not assume responsibility for privately owned property left at the pool.

B. The fence and the patio wall may not be used for climbing, sitting, or hanging clothing and towels.

C. Pool privileges are available for members with current annual dues paid by the first full opening day of each new season.

D. Special notices will be posted on the bulletin boards.

E. The pool doors will be unlocked only during lifeguard hours for the general membership.

F. No members, guests or visitors are allowed on pool grounds when lifeguard is not on duty.

G. Members must sign-in at the desk when they enter.

H. Any member proposing a change in these rules must submit his proposal in writing to the Board of Directors for their consideration.

I. Sports equipment must be signed in and out with one of the on-duty lifeguards or adult supervisors.

J. Vehicle parking shall normally be restricted to the parking area. Parking is not permitted in the areas so designated.

K. There will be no loitering around the front desk. Lifeguards and adult supervisors only.

V. TEEN NIGHTS & SUB-TEEN NIGHT

A. Teen Nights and Sub-Teen Nights will be announced and posted on the bulletin board and will normally be from 7:00 P.M. -10:00 P.M. Guests will not be allowed to enter after 9:00 P.M.

B. Each member is entitled to Three (3) guests who must enter with them and leave with them.

C. Members and Guests will be charged an admission.

D. Any potential troublemaker may be prohibited from entering the pool area by the Pool Manager/Lifeguards/Adult Supervisors
